This is a double-barrelled hammer action shotgun of side-by-side construction with under-lever breaking made by C.G Edwards of George Street, Plymouth in Devon.  C.G.Edwards made shotguns from 1860 till the 1940s, and I would place this example as one of his earlier models. It is in good condition, with classic cross-hatched hardwood woodwork and lightly engraved metalwork  The stock does have some cracks just rear of the hammers, but it is completely solid with no movement, and the front hand-guard has light damage, but to my mind these add even more character to this Victorian-era sporting weapon.  This shotgun breaks, cocks, half-cocks and dry-fires with a very precise action, and can be fully stripped. It would make a fabulous addition to anybody's hunting lodge, mounted over the fireplace! The inert cartridges shown are not included, but are added to compliment this classic vintage hunting shotgun.
