British Pattern 1907 Wilkinson made bayonet and scabbard dated 1917 **SOLD**

This is a Pattern 1907 bayonet for use with the Lee-Enfield rifle no1 mk3 or 3* , better known as the SMLE.  The stamped details on the ricasso, show 1907 for the pattern under the Royal Cypher of George V, indicating issue to HM Forces, and Wilkinson as the manufacturer under a date of 1 17, though badly stamped.  The other side shows inspection marks, bend test and broadarrow.   The 17 inch blade is in excellent, straight condition, with an even parkarised finish to it's whole length and good blacked ricasso.  Good point and undamaged, unsharpened edge. Both wooden grips are good, with the usual minor knocks, and the letter H carved on one side, a previous owner? They also have the benefit of inspection stamps on both grips, with  good release button.  Oval frog-stud scabbard is undamaged and unbent, all stitching intact to the leather, and  good blacking to throat and chape. A lovely piece of history to compliment any WW1 SMLE.
