British Pattern 1907 Wilkinson bayonet and scabbard, undated.

This is a Pattern 1907 bayonet for use with the Lee-Enfield rifle no1 mk3 or 3*, better known as the SMLE.  Ricasso markings show only Wilkinson Pall Mall for the maker, but no other stamps except for a bend test stamp on the other ricasso. The polished steel blade is in very good condition, with good point and edge. Both wooden grips are very good, good release button, and all the blacking to crossguard and pommel. The oval frog-stud scabbard is in similar very good condition, minor movement in both throat and chape, also unmarked to the rear of the leather. Of interest is the initials H.S. and the date 24/11/27 scratched into the top of the scabbard throat, suggesting this was a contract bayonet supplied after WW1. A lovely piece of history to compliment any WW1 or WW2 SMLE in very nice condition.
