British Pattern 1907 Sandersons made bayonet and scabbard 1916 dated **SOLD**


This is a Pattern 1907 bayonet for use with the Lee-Enfield rifle no1 mk3 or 3*, better known as the SMLE.  This example has a parkarised steel blade and blacked ricasso with good blade and point, showing signs of sharpening on the sound edge. Most details are still visible on the ricasso, showing a date of 3 16, the Royal Cypher and 'Sandersons' as the maker. The other side shows the usual inspection, bend test and broad arrow marks. Good undamaged wooden grips, with very nice large acceptance stamps on both sides. Good release button, though signs of light corrosion to the steel. The oval-stud scabbard is in good sound condition, all stitching intact to the leather, again light corrosion to chape, but most of the original blacking to throat. A lovely piece of history to compliment any SMLE.
