British Pattern 1907 Sandersons bayonet with scabbard RAF marked dated 1917 **SOLD**

This is a Pattern 1907 bayonet for use with the Lee-Enfield rifle no1 mk3 or 3*, better known as the SMLE.  This example has a polished steel blade and ricasso with good undamaged and unsharpened blade and good point. Most details are still visible on the polished ricasso, showing a date of 4 17, the Royal Cypher and Sandersons as the maker. The other side shows the usual re-acceptance dates, and inspection, bend test and broad arrow marks. Very good wooden grips on both sides and good release button. The pommel is stamped R.A.F. IE 3242, with A196 just above the release button, and 377 between the grips . The scabbard is in sound condition, all stitching intact to the leather marked H.G.R.17, very good throat and chape retaining most of their original finish, but with some kind of repair to the bottom of the leather. A lovely piece of history to compliment any SMLE, especially one of RAF issue.
