British Pattern 1907 Sanderson made bayonet with scabbard, 1918 dated, desert cammo **SOLD**

This is a Pattern 1907 bayonet for use with the Lee-Enfield rifle no1 mk3 or 3* , better known as the SMLE.  The 17 1/4" blade is in very good condition with unsharpened edge and perfect point, with details on the ricasso of a date of 9 18, the Royal Cypher, pattern and Sanderson make, and on the other side inspection, bend test and broad arrow marks. Good wooden grips on both sides, but signs of rust pitting on the pommel and the release button needs freeing. The scabbard is a WW1 issue item, with oval frog-stud, and is painted in desert cammo colour. Possibly a North African campaign souvenir, or even Mesopotamia (Lawrence of Arabia!) Some rust pitting on the steel parts again, but very good leather, and generally perfectly sound. A lovely piece of history to compliment any SMLE.
