British Pattern 1907 Sanderson made bayonet and scabbard dated 1918 **SOLD**

This is a Pattern 1907 bayonet for use with the Lee-Enfield rifle no1 mk3 or 3*, better known as the SMLE.  This example is a bit of a 'barn find', not in the best condition with rust pitting on the scabbard chape and crossguard, and light corrosion on the throat and pommel. In it's favour is a good undamaged blade with good edge and point, though again the odd bit of rust pitting. A good bayonet that has suffered from the elements rather than abuse. Blacked ricasso shows 1907 as the Pattern under the Cypher, a date of 4 18,  and Sandersons as the maker. The other side shows the usual inspection, bend test and broad arrow marks, and no re-acceptance. Very good wooden grips on both sides, with negligible marking, and good release button. The round-stud scabbard is in otherwise good sound condition, all stitching intact to the leather. A lovely piece of history to compliment any weathered SMLE!
