British Pattern 1907 Sanderson made bayonet and scabbard dated 1916, marked pommel **SOLD**
This is a Pattern 1907 bayonet for use with the Lee-Enfield rifle no1 mk3 or 3*, better known as the SMLE. This example has a bright steel blade and blacked ricasso with excellent unsharpened blade and point. Details on the ricasso show 1907 as the Pattern, a date of 6 16, Sandersons as the maker, under the Royal Cypher. The other side shows the usual inspection, bend test and broad arrow marks, and re-acceptance in '19. Very good wooden grips on both sides, with negligible marking, and good release button. Nicely blacked crossguard and pommel, marked 1N 619.The round-stud scabbard is in very good sound condition, all stitching intact to the leather, marked JWB 17, throat and chape retaining alot of their original finish. A lovely piece of history to compliment any SMLE.
