British Pattern 1907 bayonet Wilkinson dated 1917, South African marked, desert cammo

This is a Pattern 1907 bayonet for use with the Lee-Enfield rifle no1 mk3 or 3*, better known as the SMLE.  Ricasso markings show 1907 for the Pattern under a faint Royal Cypher of George V,  8 '17 for manufacture date and Wilkinson as the manufacturer. The other side shows acceptance marks, re-acceptance date, broad arrow and bend test. The lightly parkerised steel blade is in very good condition with perfect point and good factory sharpened edge. Both wooden grips are complete and in very good condition, good release button, and most of original blacking to crossguard and pommel. Of interest is the South African acceptance stamp on the pommel and remains of desert cammo in the grip screws, matching the scabbard. The oval-frogstud scabbard is also in very good sound condition, original blacking to the nice and snug throat and chape, inspection stamped and remains of desert cammo. A lovely untouched piece of history to compliment any WW1 SMLE.
