British Patt' 1907 Sanderson made bayonet and scabbard, 1918 dated, 1940 dated Patt'37 frog **SOLD**

This is a Pattern 1907 bayonet for use with the Lee-Enfield rifle no1 mk3 or 3*, better known as the SMLE.  Ricasso markings show 1907 for the Pattern under the Royal Cypher of George V, and 6 '18 for date of manufacture and Sanderson as the manufacturer. The other side shows the usual inspection, broad arrow, bend test and re-acceptance dates. The lightly parkerised steel blade is in very good condition, with excellent point and edge and blacked ricasso, though some light knocks on the spine. Both wooden grips are very good, with most of the original blacked finish to crossguard and pommel. The leather oval-frogstud scabbard is in lovely condition, with similar blacked finish to throat and chape, both nice and tight, inspection stamped and dated to rear. Fitted into Patt'37 webbing frog marked MECo and dated 1940. A lovely piece of history to compliment any WW1 SMLE that also was issued and probably saw action in WW2.
