World War 1 bayonets
This is a Pattern 1907 bayonet for use with the Lee-Enfield rifle no1 mk3 or 3*, better known as the SMLE. Ricasso markings show 1907 for the Pattern under the Royal Cypher of George V, and 1 '18 for date of manufacture and Sanderson as the manufacturer. The other side shows the usual inspection, broad arrow, bend test and re-acceptance dates. The lightly parkerised steel blade is in very good condition, with excellent point and edge and blacked ricasso. Both wooden grips are very good, with all of the original blacked finish to crossguard and SRMI 33 marked pommel. The S is quite faint so possibly an earlier stamp. The leather oval-frogstud scabbard is in lovely condition, with similar blacked finish to throat and chape, slight movement in the maker marked throat. A lovely piece of history to compliment any SMLE rifle .
