World War 2 bayonets and Knives
|
This is the No.7 mk1 bayonet, the penultimate socket bayonet fitted to the Lee-Enfield no.4 rifle, made from 1945 till 1948. The simple No.4 spike transformed into this elaborate knife bayonet with rotating handle, and then finished as a cross between the two, the No.9, a knife bayonet without handle which served only one purpose. In very good condition, excellent point and edge, unlike most you find now, on a clean blade. Stamped No7.MK.1/L on one ricasso, and the M/78 dispersal code for Elkington & Co of Birmingham, who only made these during hostilities, on the other. Also stamped M/78 on nicely blacked pommel. Good near perfect undented scabbard dispersal code marked with correct steel throat, fitted into genuine jungle green 1945 dated webbing frog. A lovely example of this highly sought-after bayonet. Our Price: £245.00 |
