British made No4 MkII* bayonet and scabbard, N30 made **SOLD**

This is a British made spike bayonet for fitment to the Lee-Enfield rifle no4 and all it's marks. Rather gruesomely known as the 'pig-sticker', this bayonet is marked No4 MKII* above N30 as the maker, with  a  broadarrow stamp on one socket side, and forger's mark on the other. N30 was the dispersal code of Howard & Bullough Co. of Accrington Lancashire, one of the less known makers, who made 160,000 between 1942 and 1943. Early ones were stamped H&B, and later ones were stamped N30, but some were stamped with both marks. This is a variant of the Mk2, designated MK2* , the '*' suffix denoting a two piece construction with separate blade rather than one piece, to assist in speed of manufacture. Very good blade and point with nicely blacked socket, fitted into good mid war mk1 steel scabbard.
