British Lee-Enfield no.9 knife bayonet set 1949 dated SOLD

This is the No.9, last of the line for the socket bayonet fitted to the Lee-Enfield no.4 rifle. The simple No.4 spike transformed into the elaborate no.7 knife bayonet with rotating handle, and then finished as a cross between the two, a knife bayonet without handle which served only one purpose. Modern bayonets have now returned to the dual purpose role of a useful knife as well as an extension to your rifle when you run out of ammo, or just fancy a bayonet charge! In sound condition, good blade with very good point and edge and only light marks on the blade. The mount is a marked 1949 with maker mark P in a circle for the Royal Ordnance Factory, Poole, Dorset. Good complete undented scabbard, fitted into a blancoed webbing frog that appears to have been field modified.
