Australian Patt. 1907 Lithgow made parade bayonet and scabbard

This is a Pattern 1907 bayonet for use with the Lee-Enfield rifle no1 mk3 or 3*, better known as the SMLE, chrome plated on the blade, crossguard and pommel for parade use.  Ricasso markings are faint due to the polishing prior to chroming, but show clear Australian acceptance stamps associated with Lithgow produced bayonets, and a bend test stamp. The full 17" steel blade is in good condition, with good point and unsharpened edge. Both wooden grips are complete and sound, good release button. The round-frogstud scabbard is in good sound condition too, but the rivetted throat spring has been removed, possibly to make drawing the bayonet easier under parade condition. These would be hidden by a frog. The leather has most of it's glossed black finish remaining, polished finish to chape and throat, with some movement to the latter. A lovely piece of history to compliment any WW1 SMLE.
