Australian made OA marked Pattern 1907 bayonet 1943 dated

This is a Pattern 1907 bayonet for use with the Lee-Enfield rifle no1 mk3 or   3*, better known as the SMLE, as used throughout WW1 and the first half of WW2.  Ricasso markings show 1907 for the Pattern above a date of 8 '43. The other side shows broad arrows and bend test, and OA for the Orange Arsenal, who took over production of bayonets from Lithgow in 1942. The lightly parkarised steel blade is in very good condition, excellent unsharpened edge and good point, with clean cross-guard and pommel. Wooden grips are in good sound condition, both marked SLAZ '43, good release button. The round-frog stud scabbard is also in good condition, all stitching intact, and remains of blacked finish on chape and throat.  Dent in chape does not effect draw of blade. Interesting D prefix serial number on pommel and throat, but not matching. A lovely piece of history to compliment any WW2 Aussie issue SMLE.
