American Remington Model 1917 bayonet, scabbard and Home Guard frog, 1918 marked

This is a Model 1917 bayonet as fitted to the US Model of 1917 as well as the British P13 and P14 rifles, made under contract in the USA. This particular example is marked Remington under the model number of 1918, which is incorrectly stamped as it should have been 1917, and some bayonets were stamped 1918 when the year changed, making these more desirable to collectors. On the other side are the US inspection and bend test stamps. The blade has a nice lightly parkarised finish to it, perfect point and unsharpened edge. Very good grips and release button, with a patina of age to pommel and crossguard. Good 'wire-hanger' scabbard, retaining most of the original green finish to the leather, with steel fittings showing similar finish to the pommel, both nice and tight. Fitted into a leather P39 Home Guard frog, which is in good sound condition except fo a broken hilt strap that could be repaired. A great addition to any WW1 P14 or M17, or Home Guard enthusiast.
