This is a Remington made Model 1917 bayonet as fitted to the US Model 1917 rifle (often mistakenly called the P17) and the Enfield P14. These bayonets were re-issued in WW2 to be used with the P14 and M17 rifles that armed the Home Guard units. This particular bayonet is in very good condition, with excellent straight blade with evenly parkarised finish to the entire length, undamaged point, unsharpened, but  a few light dings to the edge. Marked 1917 for the pattern above the maker logo for Remington on the blacked ricasso, the other side showing the 'flaming bomb' and eagle's head motifs and US, along with bend test mark and the digits 22. Very good grips and nicely blued crossguard and pommel. The scabbard is equally good with original greeny finish to the leather, marked Jewell 1918 to the rear and complete with wire hanger. Nice patina to the chape and throat, however the chape has suffered some damage as shown, and the price adjusted accordingly. Still a very nice piece, and the damage could well have been inflicted during it's service life.
