American M5 A1 bayonet and scabbard
This is the M5 bayonet which was introduced in 1953 to replace the existing M1 bayonet for the Garand rifle, and was produced up into the 1960's. In 1955 an improvement to the latch design led to the M5A1, of which this is one. Marked US M5A1 MILPAR COL under the crossguard, this bayonet is in good condition, with good edge and point, and good undamaged grips and very nice U.S.M8A1 marked scabbard with thigh strap.
