Deactivated Smith and Wesson .38 model 10 pre-Victory revolver New Zealand marked **SOLD**

This is a 0.38" calibre Smith & Wesson Model 10 revolver, developed in 1899. Described as the most successful handgun of all time,  this was one of the standard side-arms of the British and Commonwealth forces during WW2 along with the Enfield no2 and Webley Mk4, supplied under the 'lend lease' agreement. This particular example is what is known as a 'pre-Victory' model, in that it was made before the Victorys, and as such does not have the V prefix, but is marked 'United States Property' as it was still supplied under the 'lend-lease' scheme. In very good authentic condition, this revolver features wooden hand grips in lovely complete condition and 99% of it's original blued finish, with matching serial numbers to frame, barrel, chamber and grips. Of special interest are the markings on the grip strap, of NZ 4849, indicating New Zealand issue, and WB acceptance stamp.  Good precise action, this revolver can be cocked and dry-fired. The inert rounds shown are not included but are available separately at £1.50 each in the 'Inert Ammunition' section, post free if ordered together with this classic service revolver. Deactivated in the UK with Certificate to UK specification.
