Deactivated Russian SKS-45 semi-automatic carbine with u/folding bayonet, 1950 dated SOLD

This is the SKS-45, or 'self-loading carbine of the Simonov system' designed by Sergie Simonov in 1943. Chambering the then new 7.62 x 39mm round, the SKS came into service in 1945 but had little impact in WW2, though carried on in frontline service till the early 1950s when it was replaced by the AK-47 assault rifle. The SKS remained in second-line service for decades longer, and is still used as a ceremonial weapon today. Featuring a 10-round stripper clip loaded internal magazine, and integral under-folding bayonet, it's design had a lot in common with WW2 technology. This particular example is in very good condition, with lacquered hardwood stock showing only minor marks from service use, and excellent blacking to the steel with full matching stamped serial numbers throughout. Dated 1950 on the breech cover and stock, with Tula Arsenal stamp, this is one of the last of this early 'Cold War' weapon. A current spec deactivation, with moving trigger and safety lever, and quality leather sling. Deactivated in the UK to UK specification with Proof House certificate.
