Deactivated Mauser Gew.98 German infantry rifle, 1915 dated Spandau made SOLD

This is the standard infantry rifle of the German Army during WW1, the iconic Mauser Gewehr 98, or more simply G98. The '98' relates to the first year of manufacture, 1898, and production continued till 1935 when it was replaced by the equally famous K98 carbine, both chambering the 7.92mm x 57mm cartridge. This particular example is in lovely authentic condition with super woodwork, no damage and only minor marks refecting its 95 years of age. Very good steel retaining it's original finish, marked Spandau under the Imperial German crown and dated 1915 on the receiver. Unusually, still has an original cleaning rod, with matching serial numbers to breech, barrel and rear sights. The 7.92mm inert rounds shown are not included with this rifle, but are shown to compliment this vintage rifle. They are available   seperately in the 'Inert Ammunition' section at £1.50 each, and will be supplied post free if ordered together.  Deactivated in the UK with certificate to UK specification.
