Deactivated SMLE Mk3 Enfield made, 1915, mag cut-off, volley sights, matched s/numbers SOLD

This is the standard infantry rifle of the British Army and the forces of it's Empire during WW1, the Lee-Enfield rifle no1 mk 3, made at the Enfield factory. The butt socket is clearly stamped with the Royal Cypher of George V, indicating military issue, the maker Enfield, date of 1915, and the model SHT.L.E. III. The furniture is in very good original condition, though a little battle-scarred, fitting and matching very nicely, showing repairs and a split or two but nothing missing. Correct mk3 features, with brass butt-disc marked LGS 262, piling swivel, mag cut-off feature, windage on rear sights and partial volley sights. The steelwork is also in very good condition, retaining a lot of it's original blacked finish, with matching serial numbers to breech, rearsights, nosecap and forestock. Also stamped DP to indicate 'Drill Purpose' adding to it's military history. An original example of this iconic rifle perfect for the reinactor or collector alike. Generally known as the SMLE mk3, this rifle is a current spec EU deactivation, so has moving cocking handle and trigger but no dry-fire, detachable magazine and comes complete with a genuine webbing sling and a few inert .303 rounds. Deactivated in the UK with Certificate to UK/EU specification.
